Change to operational hours

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you may be aware there have recently been a number of playgroups, pre-schools and nurseries which have closed, there are a number of reasons why this has occured, mainly because the changes that the government have put upon them which is beyond their control.

At Pelican, the management and board of trustees have been looking at the changes which have to be made in order to remain sustainable and to maintain the viability of the centre.

It is regrettable that we are no longer going to be able to provide all year care, this is due to the majority of families which attend Pelican only require term time.  This means we will be open for 38 weeks of the year instead of 48.  Autumn term 14 weeks, Spring term 11 weeks and Summer term 13 weeks.

This will begin in the Autumn term 2017.

We have also reviewed our opening times and the 5-6 hour is no longer viable to operate as the number of children requiring this hour doesn't cover the staffing and running costs.

Our new opening times from September will be Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. Term time.

As of September we will be introducing a Pelican Literacy and Learning pack at the cost of £5.00.  This will include a pelican book bag, pencil case summer hat and a home learning pack.

We are preparing to accept the 30 hrs funding for children whose parents are working 16 hrs or more.  In order to refurbish the centre and give you plenty of notice, we will have to move the closing summer date of pelican from friday 11th August to July 28th thus giving us 4 weeks to complete the work.

The board of trustees who like to apologies for any inconvenience caused but to remain sustainable we have to make these changes now.

Should in the future there be any change in our catchment demands, we will always endeavour to make the appropriate changes.
