Risk Assessment
Before outings we carry out risk assessments making sure it is safe for both staff and children. Staff ratios are adhered to both on outings and in the centre.
All staff have Paediatric First Aid training and there is always a first aider on duty. Permission is obtained when a child registers.
Awareness
Dangers are monitored daily through risk assessment and children are reminded of various risks throughout the session.
The centre has termly fire drills. Evacuation cots and walking rings are used for the children to get them to the safety point. Pelicans fire alarm system and supplies are serviced on a regular basis.
Medicines
Medicines can be administered in the centre but only when a form is completed with a member of staff (please see our policy on this). If a child is unwell with us parents/carers will be contacted to arrange collection.
DBS Checks
All staff, trustees, volunteers and long term trainees undergo checks by the Data and Barring Service; we are registered with an independent firm to carry out these checks. No member of staff is allowed to be left alone with the children or allowed to take them to the toilet until they have completed a satisfactory DBS check.
